Job Description:

The child protection senior officer is responsible for coordinating and managing DANIDA Hum project which is going to be implemented in Kunduz province and its districts, overseeing implementation of MHPSS activities and service provision for vulnerable and at-risk children, adolescent and families.



  • Provide practical technical follow up and monitoring to all trainings and workshops conducted to ensure the sustainability and impacts of the activities.
  • In coordination with the partners and MHPSS TA, develople new training modules and manuals on child rights issues, safe identifications and referrals, and community work skills.
  • Ensure training for all Save the children staff on Child protection and Child safeguarding policy, the Code of Conduct is implemented, and staff complete all mandatory trainings on time.
  • Compile and generate the training reports conducted in provinces.
  • Day to day management of the project with full coordination with SCI country office and Kunduz office.
  • Regular coordination with training partner to ensure high quality of learning and skill building  for Psychosocial  counsellors, and support mentoring and on the job training throughout the duration of the training program.
  • Regular coordination across SC programs and thematic areas, ensuring high level of integration and collaboration when needed and where possible.
  • Support the development of partnership between adults and children, enabling girls and boys participation in governance structures( e.g. Shura CPAN, and Save the children program an policy developments).
  • Assist in translation of key training materials which currently in English into Pashtu/Dari (e.g. Child rights, social work coaching and).
  • Work closely with save the children program teams, including other sectors, to adapt or develope applicable materials on child rights, Child protection, participation, health education, environmental protection and participation.
  • Ensuring high quality services are provided through CFS, schools in targeted communities.
  • Working with project team to provide PSS to the affected children/population.
  • Provide consistent supervision and technical support for case management and facilitation of group sessions.
  • Any other relevant tasks assigned by line manager and technical team.



  • Ensure commitment in building constructive working relationship with partners based on SCI partnership principles spelled out in Theory of change.
  • Coordinate with partners on issues of accountability(reporting) as per SCI and back donor’s requirements.
  • Ensure any new requirments of SCI is shared with partners in coordination with partnership unit.



  • Ensure all projects are equipped with MELA system like quality benchmarks, billboards, posters to exhibit MEAL messages for activities.
  • Ensure actions plans for quality monitoring and accountability systems are generated and implemented in timely manner collaboration with MEAL team.
  • Report project outputs against M&E plans.
  • Ensure that data and information is available for projects at field as per the M&E plan.

Job Requirements:


  • Undergraduate degree in relevant subject




  • More than 3 years experience in work focusing on children’s rights and protection issues.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Good working knowledge( spoken and written) of English and Pashtu/or Dari language.
  • Skills in report writing.
  • Experience in conducting raining
  • Ability to manage a project
  • A relevant degree in education, Psychology, social sciences or a closely related field.
  • Extensive experience as a trainer using participatory methodology.
  • Experience in undertaking training needs assessment.
  • Experience in developing training materials.
  • Knowledge of child rights, child protection and child participation and case management or counselling.
  • Proven compentence in using participatory/ interactive methods in working with children in difficult circumstances;
  • Politically and culturely sensitive, awareness of genders issues, with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of team.
  • A willingness to work as part of a team in a complex and sometimes insecure environment.
  • A preparedness to work in uncertain security environments.
  • Computer literate (work processing, spreadsheets, email).
  • Commitment to the vision, mission and goals of SC.
  • Commitment to SC Child protection policy.
  • Experience in working with INGOs for at least 2 years.
  • Good sense of humour and flexibility.



  • Experience of translating materials from English to Pashtu and Dari.
  • Experience in MHPSS, child participation and community pariticpation.
  • Familiar with other computer programs(MS.Access, Photoshop etc).
